Kevin Owens has been away from WWE for over a year, but he’ll be back for the new season of WWE LFG.

There have been two seasons of WWE LFG on A&E, and in each season, retired wrestlers have served as coaches on the show.

In the upcoming season 3, which premieres on Sunday, April 26th at 10 p.m. ET, there will no longer be teams involving the coaches. Instead, the coaches will be WWE Hall of Famers Booker T and Bubba Ray Dudley (they were on the first two seasons), along with active WWE superstars Nattie (aka Natalya) and Kevin Owens, who lives in Orlando near the WWE Performance Center where the show is taped.

The last match that Kevin Owens had was an Unsanctioned Match that he won over his best friend/best rival, Sami Zayn, at Elimination Chamber 2025 in Toronto, which was over a year ago.

Former Universal Champion Kevin Owens had neck surgery in July 2025, and it was the kind of surgery that will likely keep him out of the ring for about a year, but there’s been no specific timeline for when he might return to the ring.

While speaking in a WWE teaser video about LFG Season 3, Kevin Owens explained that he is part of LFG because he wants to be around the business while he’s out of action.

“I’ve been wrestling for 25 years. Ultimately, for me, I just want to help the next generation. Also, I don’t really know what I’d do with myself if I didn’t. This is all I’ve done since I was 15. This is what I love and have always loved. Right now, I’ve been off for eight, nine months, because of my neck surgery. I’m losing it. I just want to be around it.”

Steve Austin Wishes His Match With Kevin Owens Was Different

One of the most famous matches that Kevin Owens will ever have was on WrestleMania 38 Saturday when he lost to WWE Hall of Famer, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, who was wrestling his first match in 19 years. The Owens-Austin match was originally advertised as a Kevin Owens Show talk show segment and then it turned into a match.

Steve Austin recently spoke about Kevin Owens and that WrestleMania 38 match, while explaining that he wishes he was sharper for the match against Owens.

“So on that night, walking to the ring, I remember I couldn’t hear the crowd like I wanted to, just because of the acoustics of that building. And, man, I’m just real in tune with how the crowd responds to anything, particularly as anybody would, your entrance, we blew the roof off the place.

So anyway, we go into the match, and it was fine. I blew up because I hadn’t had any reps in the ring. But when I look back at that, I rushed through so many things, I wish I would have slowed down more and savored a little bit more and just entertained the crowd a little bit more.

And it was what it was, we got away with it because it was anticipated. It was billed as my last match, because Dallas is where I started and Dallas is where I would finish. So for all the right reasons, it was there to have that match, and we pulled it off. But God dang, I could have been better prepared, and I would have loved to have been better that night for Kevin Owens.”
