Jay White’s Time In Japan Could Be Coming To An End

Jay White

Former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White could be nearing the end of his time in NJPW after issuing a huge challenge at New Year Dash.

Jay White went into battle once again inside the Tokyo Dome against Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on the 4th of January. White put his IWGP World Heavyweight Title on the line against the 2022 G1 Climax winner in the main event of the show.

Unlike when the two men met at Wrestle Kingdom 13 in 2019, it was Okada who came out on top, winning NJPW’s revamped championship for the second time in his career.

At the post-show press conference, Jay White indicated that he was blaming former Bullet Club partner Hikuleo for his loss, saying that he had derailed White’s destiny.

At New Year Dash on the 5th of January, Jay White teamed with Bullet Club comrades KENTA, Taiji Ishimori, and El Phantasmo but they were defeated by the team of Hikuleo, Tama Tonga, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Master Wato. Following the bout, Bullet Club continued their attack on their opponents with White dropping Hikuleo with a Blade Runner.

Jay White then challenged Hikuleo to a match with the stipulation that the loser would have to leave Japan. The match has not yet been made official but if it takes place then it will surely only add to the rumours that Switchblade could be set for an appearance in WWE’s men’s Royal Rumble match in late January.
