Ex-WWE Star Rumored To Be Returning Drops Major Hint Of Royal Rumble Return
The WWE Royal Rumble match is a time for surprises and one former star that’s likely to return has dropped a hint about her comeback on social media.
Chelsea Green has been expected to return to WWE after her run in Impact Wrestling came to an end a few months ago. In December, Green shut down her exclusive content page with Fightful Select reporting at the time that she was headed to WWE.
In early January, there was a report from Fightful that Green has not only re-signed with WWE, but has been signed for “quite some time.” They were simply awaiting for the right time to bring her back.
Green signed with WWE in 2018, but that run didn’t go very well due to numerous injuries and the creative team not using her that well. Green was called up to Smackdown in November of 2020, but after competing in a fatal four-way match during her television debut, she broke her wrist for a second and was forced out of action. She was released from her WWE contract in April of 2021 and has since competed in ROH, IMPACT Wrestling, and GCW alongside her husband Matt Cardona.
In a tweet on January 19th late in the evening, Green posted a GIF of herself (with former manager Mr. Stone) entering the 2020 Royal Rumble. Unfortunately for Green, she was only in that Rumble match for about 17 seconds.

In November 2022, Green said this about a potential WWE return.
“With WWE, I’m really glad that I left on good terms, although I was sad that I didn’t get to fulfill myself creatively as a wrestler. I still had a great relationship with Triple H. I had a great relationship with Vince. I am really happy that I’m able to hold my head up high knowing there’s an opportunity for me to possibly go back if they decide it’s the time and the place.”
“I have unfinished business at WWE, period. But I would go into it totally different than I did the last time, and I think that’s also the beauty of growing up. I have other goals in life now and at some point I want to start a family. It would be nice to close the WWE chapter with another run or another storyline, but that’s not my choice. That’s theirs.”
With the 2023 Royal Rumble taking place in just eight days from now, it appears as though Chelsea Green will get her chance to handle that unfinished business.
