Ex-WWE Champion Confesses: “We Didn’t Want Anyone To Know That We Were Dating”

A former 2-time WWE Champion confessed that he and his better-half didn’t want anyone to know that they were dating. The star in question is The Miz.

The Miz has been in the WWE since 2004 and has been a two-time World Champion and 8-time Intercontinental Champion, along with being the former tag team and US Champion as well. Aside from his accolades, Miz apparently found the love of his life in the Stamford-based promotion as well. The Miz met the former Divas Champion, Maryse, in the late 2000s.

The two dated each other for years before officially tying the knot in 2014. The Miz and Maryse are considered a power couple within the wrestling community, but they wanted to keep their dating life a secret.

The Miz and the WWE Diva didn’t want their dating life out in public

Speaking with Complex Graps, The Miz opened up on his first meeting with the former WWE Divas Champion, Maryse and recalled that the two wanted to hide that they were dating:

You know, it’s funny. When we first started in WWE, I was the host of SmackDown and the Divas Search, and then Maryse came in through the Divas Search, that’s how we met, and they kind of put us together for two seconds, and someone told me that the talk in the meeting room was that they don’t have chemistry. And the reason being was the fact that we were trying to hide the fact that we were dating. We didn’t want anyone to know that we were dating.”

Miz further explained why he and Maryse wanted to keep their dating a secret and opened up on their chemistry as well:

And you might be like, ‘Well, why?’ In the workplace, you want to be professional. You don’t want anyone to know certain things about your personal life. So that’s what we were doing, and then I think we were trying to keep it so much that it looked like we had no chemistry. But obviously, with the success of Miz and Mrs, with the success of everything that we were able to do with the Intercontinental Title and being together, man, every time we are on camera together, it just creates magic. It creates some sort of special moment that people talk about, that people remember. And that’s a testament to, sure me, but I tell you what, the more is Maryse.” [h/t WrestleTalk]

Meanwhile, Miz is currently in a feud with Danhausen on SmackDown, and Maryse has not been in the ring since her last match in 2022.
