Drew McIntyre To Star In New Movie Opposite Henry Cavill
Drew McIntyre has an exciting new project on the way.
According to a new report from Deadline, Drew McIntyre will star alongside Henry Cavill in the star-studded reboot of Highlander. McIntyre is set to play Cavill’s brother, Angus MacLeod.
Production is set to begin in early 2026, but there’s no word on how long, if at all, McIntyre will be away from WWE.
The film will be produced by Amazon, MGM Studios’ United Artists, and directed by Chad Stahelski. The screenplay was handled by Michael Finch, who based it on the 1986 original starring Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, and Roxanne Hart.
The movie is also set to star WWE legend Dave Bautista, Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, and Max Zhang.
The original Highlander portrays the climax of an ancient battle between immortal warriors, unfolding through interwoven past and present-day storylines. Russell Mulcahy directed the film, produced by Peter S. Davis and William N. Panzer.
Since its release, the feature has inspired multiple sequels and a popular TV series of the same name, which premiered in 1992, starring Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod.
Drew McIntyre Nearly Left Wrestlepalooza Undisputed WWE Champion
Following Wrestlepalooza, it was reported that there was a pitch for Drew McIntyre to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
In the main event of WWE’s ESPN debut, McIntyre lost out to Cody Rhodes, seemingly putting an end to their feud, at least for the time being. Given that he’s still the champion, Rhodes will now move on to a match with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel.
The pitch for Wrestlepalooza would have seen Randy Orton inadvertently cost Rhodes the gold, setting up a feud between the pair. Rhodes would have then eventually beaten McIntyre to get the championship back.
