According to an ex-WWE Champion, a current AEW talent has the potential to become a franchise player in the rival company.

Jinder Mahal, aka Raj Dhesi, recently showered praise on the former 3-time AEW World Champion for the way he portrays his character on-screen as well as off-screen and everything he has accomplished in his journey at just 30 years of age.

Until last week, Maxwell Jacob Friedman was involved in a feud with Kenny Omega. Multiple incidents of a back-and-forth between them resulted in a title match, which also came with a stipulation that if Omega lost, he could never challenge for the top championship ever.

Despite reservations, Omega eventually agreed.

The two superstars squared off in the main event of the July 8 taping of Dynamite Beach Break.

MJF and Kenny Omega traded offense multiple times during the bout, with the action briefly shifting outside the ring as well, thanks to the referee’s leniency.

In the closing minutes, Omega kicked out of a pinfall at one, considering he was just hit with a low blow. He managed to neutralize Friedman before hitting him with a couple of V Triggers and performing the One-Winged Angel for the win.

There is no question that he will be back in the title picture soon, and it’s only a matter of when.

AEW Star MJF Could Attain Franchise Status In WWE

Over the years, WWE has seen numerous franchise wrestlers come and go, the last being John Cena, who retired from wrestling in December last year.

Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal recently said that MJF has all the qualities to position himself as a franchise player, considering he opts to jump ship in the future.

The 39-year-old shared a video of himself on TikTok, praising the AEW star while comparing him to the likes of The Rock, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, John Cena, and Roman Reigns.

I’ve seen enough. The future franchise player of WWE—I’m talking Reigns, Cena, Rock, Austin, Hogan level—is MJF.

My prediction: MJF eventually makes the jump to WWE. And if he does, I think he has the potential to be the next franchise player. He can talk. He understands his character. He knows how to use social media and media in general to keep people invested.

Most importantly, he understands how to blur the lines. The most valuable skill to have. [H/T: PWMania]

While MJF’s future direction in the company remains a mystery, Kenny Omega will head to AEW All In: London, where he will defend his title against Will Ospreay. The event will take place at Wembley Stadium on August 30.
