Dave Meltzer Criticizes Triple H For Comments About Brock Lesnar’s WWE Absence
Dave Meltzer thinks that Triple H is lying when it comes to why WWE isn’t using Brock Lesnar.
It was nearly one year ago when Brock Lesnar last competed in a WWE ring. That was at SummerSlam 2023 when Cody Rhodes beat Brock Lesnar in a feud-ending match. After it was over, Lesnar hugged Cody and raised his hand in the air as the winner, which is not something that Lesnar has done in his career. It was a kind gesture by Lesnar telling the WWE fans that Cody is a guy that they should support.
The return of Brock Lesnar to the WWE ring was supposed to happen at the 2024 Royal Rumble, but it didn’t happen after all. The reason is due to a lawsuit against former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
While Brock Lesnar’s name was not specifically mentioned in the Janel Grant lawsuit against Vince McMahon that was revealed by the Wall Street Journal just days before the Rumble, there were numerous references to a former UFC star who re-signed a WWE contract around the times mentioned in the lawsuit.
When speaking publicly about Lesnar’s absence from WWE, Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque said that Lesnar was not gone from WWE, he was just home being Brock with the idea that Lesnar would return when he wanted to.
Over the last week, Triple H told the Daily Mail that Lesnar was at home with his family and WWE would talk to him if he wanted to come back.
“You’d have to ask Brock Lesnar that. Brock does his own thing. He’s up in Canada I’m sure, watching his kids play hockey and enjoying life. If and when he decides that he would like to do something, we’d be open to the conversation. But, we’ll see.”
Dave Meltzer Believes Triple H Is Avoiding The Real Reason Brock Lesnar Is Away From WWE
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer criticized Triple H by saying that the WWE boss is doing everything he can to avoid talking about his father-in-law Vince McMahon’s sex trafficking lawsuit.
“It’s the same thing as what Paul Levesque said at the Rumble. ‘Oh, yeah, well — we talked but it’s not any big deal.’ No, the whole thing was freaking scripted into the show and pulled at the last minute because of the lawsuit and … that has not changed no matter what he said.”
“I think that the key is that Paul does not want to mention that lawsuit, ever. He doesn’t ever want it brought up and anything that would relate to that, he’s going to come up with something to say to avert saying that.”
Triple H has SummerSlam to look forward to this Saturday, but he was also in England with WWE President Nick Khan last week to talk about the first-ever UK WrestleMania, which does seem like a possibility at this point.
