WWE Bringing WrestleMania To The UK Could Become A Reality
The recent discussions between WWE and the mayor of London could lead to WrestleMania heading across the pond.
It was announced on Thursday that WWE President Nick Khan and WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque flew to London, England for a meeting with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. This statement was released by Sadiq Khan after the meeting.
“I am delighted to have met with WWE Hall of Famer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and WWE President Nick Khan today to discuss how we can work to make London WrestleMania’s first international destination.“
“London has great pedigree in hosting the biggest international sporting events from around the globe – and I’m determined to cement our city’s reputation as the undisputed sports capital of the world, as we work together for a better London for everyone.”
“It’s exciting to be working with the WWE team. The meeting was really productive, and talks will continue about how we could turn our ambition into a reality.”
In an update, Fightful Select‘s Sean Ross reports that WWE’s side is saying that while nothing is set in stone yet about WrestleMania heading to the UK and England specifically, the conversations were considered productive. If WrestleMania were to go to London then the obvious venue of choice would be Wembley Stadium, which is where AEW All Iin took place last year and will also take place this year on August 25th.
It was also added that there is nothing officially on the books yet and that WWE is open to having conversations with other cities about future WrestleMania events.
Did John Cena’s Promo Help London Show Interest In England Hosting WWE WrestleMania?
The first tease of WrestleMania possibly heading to England was at Money in the Bank 2023 when John Cena showed up unannounced. During his promo, Cena spoke about how great the UK fans are and said that they deserved to host WrestleMania.
According to Fightful, there were no plans at that point to have a WrestleMania in London. However, Cena’s promo led to a huge demand that people in London heard “loud and clear” so that likely led to the government reaching out to World Wrestling Entertainment to have a discussion.
WrestleMania 41 in April 2025 will be a two-night event in Las Vegas. It’s also known already that Indianapolis will host a future WrestleMania event, but WWE has yet to announce what year that will take place. There is also heavy interest in Saudi Arabia hosting a WrestleMania as well.
