Cody Rhodes has given his thoughts on The Elite choosing to re-sign with AEW.

Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Adam Page have stuck to the pact that helped form AEW once again as they have stuck together and signed new deals with AEW.

The four stars – along with Cody Rhodes – were the cornerstone of AEW when it launched in 2019 and now they will be there for a whole lot longer, even if nobody is quite certain for just how long that will be.

Cody Rhodes famously did not choose to sign a new deal with AEW and walked away from the company in February 2022 before returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38 just weeks later.

At the SummerSlam media scrum, Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling asked Cody Rhodes for his thoughts on The Elite choosing to take the path he didn’t and stay with AEW:

“I’m very happy when any wrestler or Superstar gets paid. I don’t want to sound carny or hacky but to know that your peers and people who take the bumps and go through all this and have that type of the physical struggle that comes with this gig, to know they’re getting paid is really exciting. I am over the moon that that group did what they did because, as Nick Jackson said, I believe they’ve made some NBA money off of it.

“I’m honestly just really happy for them. I am. I would have loved to have seen them again. But, you know, I’m very happy with the choices they made, and that schedule is a little different. This gig is, this particular gig at WWE, it’s a different type of personality that maybe fits me a little bit more. Yeah, but very happy for him.”

What’s next for Cody Rhodes in WWE?

Cody Rhodes is coming off a huge win at SummerSlam where he finally slayed Brock Lesnar. Lesnar and Rhodes shared a moment in the ring after the bout that seemingly wasn’t planned as The Beast Incarnate looks set for a hiatus from the company.

Going into that match, Rhodes had already noted that the winner should be in line for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship meaning Seth Rollins might be in for an encounter with The American Nightmare once again.
