Brock Lesnar SummerSlam Moment “Not His Farewell”

Brock Lesnar

It might not be goodbye but don’t expect to see Brock Lesnar in a WWE ring for a while.

At SummerSlam in Detroit, Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes resumed hostilities that have lasted for four months as the two stars faced off in a rubber match.

Despite Lesnar’s trademark dominance, Cody Rhodes refused to lie down and kept coming back at The Beast Incarnate, eventually nailing three Cross Rhodes to pick up the decisive victory. After the match, Lesnar showed a lesser-seen side of him as he hugged Rhodes before raising his hand to show his respect.

Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Sunday Update noted that Brock Lesnar is now expected to be absent from WWE for a while but stressed his SummerSlam showdown was not his farewell from the company:

“As mentioned on the show last night, Brock Lesnar will be off for a while. We’re not clear when he’s scheduled to return but that was not his farewell.”

When could Brock Lesnar return to WWE?

Lesnar has long worked a heavily reduced schedule in WWE with the company keen to maximise his impact when he does step in between the ropes.

The former WWE Champion has been something of a mainstay on the company’s supershows in Saudi Arabia. The next one of those will take place on November 4th, 2023 when WWE presents Crown Jewel in the Kingdom.
