Cody Rhodes Appearance Announced For WWE SmackDown

Cody Rhodes will be making an in-person appearance on the season premiere of SmackDown.

Following on from a Tag Team Title victory at Fastlane alongside Jey Uso and a successful defence of the championships on the following episode of Raw, The American Nightmare has no intentions of taking it easy.

Taking to social media, Rhodes suggested to Uso that they should put the championships up for grabs in an open challenge on October 13th:

This week, a great RAW, a historic NXT…And no better way to close out the week than with a visit for the season premiere of #SmackDown Open challenge… What say you @WWEUsos?

Also feeling like fighting on Friday night, the other half of the Tag Team Champions had only one response that was appropriate:

GahDam YEEET!!!

Whoever walks out of SmackDown with the titles will have their first defence of the championships on the following episode of Raw as Finn Balor and Damian Priest have been granted a rematch on October 16th.

Cody Rhodes Caps Off A Busy Week

The upcoming championship match on the blue brand will be The American Nightmare’s fourth appearance on WWE programming in 7 days, having appeared at Fastlane, Raw, NXT and SmackDown. On the stacked episode of NXT, Cody Rhodes delivered multiple announcements that would impact the show for weeks to come.

Now reigning as a Tag Team Champion, Michael Cole asked Rhodes if this had changed his original plans of finishing the story and dethroning Roman Reigns. While it still remains unclear who will headline WrestleMania 40, one Hall of Famer believes that Cody Rhodes has earned the right to have the marquee match.
