Cody Rhodes Has Earned The Right To Headline WrestleMania Says WWE Hall Of Famer

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes should be allowed one more chance at finishing the story.

With a Royal Rumble victory and making his intentions clear from day 1, Rhodes looked destined to be the one to finally dethrone Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. However, just as it looked like the prophecy would be fulfilled, Rhodes would lose the match to Reigns to a groan from fans both inside and outside the stadium.

With reports rumouring Rhodes vs. Reigns 2 one year later, the story seemed destined to be completed in Philadelphia. All assumptions would then be thrown into question as The Rock made his surprise return to the company in September and revealed scrapped plans for a Mani match with Reigns just a few hours prior. So if The Rock is available for Wrestlemania 40, who should face Reigns at The Show of Shows?

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray believes that Rhodes’ hard work has put him in a position to be in the marquee match in 2024, but understands why The Great One may be a replacement:

“Personally, I believe Cody has earned the right to be the headline. Not deserved, earned,” he stated. “But Rock is the bigger headline … This discussion reminds me of the movie ’12 Angry Men,’ where it seemed like the verdict was so obvious in the beginning, but by the time they got to it, and they actually discussed it and talked it out, the jury completely flipped.”

Bully Ray continued by acknowledging that WWE is a business and The Rock would be more of a financial success to the company than Cody Rhodes:

“But when you look at it from pure business, pure dollars and cents, how much more money can The Rock make for the WWE against Roman than Cody? Where is the significant amount more of dollars and cents going to come in?” Bully Ray wondered. “WrestleMania, physically, is going to sell out, right? Where are we … at what level are we going to make so much more money if The Rock is involved than Cody?”

Cody Rhodes Begins Journey As Tag Team Champion

The American Nightmare won his first WWE championship since making his return to the company by teaming with Jey Uso to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. Celebrating more than originally intended, Uso and Rhodes gave the media a press conference to remember.
