So, what did Cody Rhodes want to talk about?
The American Nightmare was one of many guest appearances on the October 10th episode of NXT and made the show newsworthy right from the start.
Appearing in the opening segment, Rhodes actually had 3 announcements planned for NXT fans, not just the one that was advertised ahead of time. Beginning by referencing the Women’s Breakout Tournament, Rhodes revealed that the men will also be getting their own Breakout Tournament again.
Next, Rhodes referenced “a certain tag team tournament.” The crowd chanted for The American Dream and made it clear that they wanted to see The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic return, to which Cody Rhodes confirmed that it would. Finally, Rhodes announced to the fans that he had the privilege of being the guest General Manager for one night. Wasting no time in exercising his power, The American Nightmare made a title match between NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov and Dominik Mysterio official for later in the night with LA Knight serving as special guest referee.
The surprises kept coming throughout the night with the show ending with an appearance from The Undertaker.
Cody Rhodes Still Looks To Finish The Story
Despite taking control of NXT for one night only and currently reigning as the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champion alongside Jey Uso, Rhodes has made it clear that he still has one goal in mind, dethroning Roman Reigns. It is still unknown whether this is still the plan for WrestleMania 40, especially with The Rock recently making a surprise return on SmackDown. However, one Hall of Famer believes that Rhodes has earned the opportunity to headline The Show of Shows once again.
