CM Punk Blasts “Hangman” Adam Page After AEW Collision (VIDEO)

Following AEW Collision, CM Punk decided to fire some shots at “Hangman” Adam Page after seeing a fan’s sign in the crowd.

In the main event of AEW Collision on Saturday night in Greensboro, North Carolina, CM Punk and FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) aka CMFTR teamed up against the House of Black trio – Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews – in a match for the Trios Tag Team Titles.

The finish of the match saw Samoa Joe appear at ringside to choke out CM Punk during the match while in the crowd. Meanwhile, HOB’s Julia Hart distracted the referee as well as Dax Harwood, so Brody King hit Dax with a lariat for the pinfall win.

After the show, the “Real World Champion” CM Punk saw a sign in the crowd that said, “Carolina is Hangman Country.” That’s a reference to the former AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page, who is actually from the state of Virginia, which isn’t that far from North Carolina.

CM Punk saw the sign and decided to take some shots at Hangman, who Punk has criticized in the past. Hangman is not on Collision, nor have been part of the same storyline for over a year, yet Punk couldn’t help himself.

“Carolina is Hangman country [referencing a sign in the crowd]. Earlier today, I went to a local supermarket and I figured out why they call him Hangman. It’s because the pegs in the toy aisle are full of Hangman action figures because nobody wants to buy them. He’s a peg warmer, unlike me, who moves merchandise, pops ratings, sells toys.”

Ouch. Punk went on to have some fun with his comments talking about how he told House of Black “no chops” yet they chopped him anyway.

“You got everybody in AEW saying, ‘I’m the heart, I’m the soul, I’m the spirit.’ Well, that’s objective [subjective], what’s a fact is the people who say that certainly aren’t the chin of AEW because the lights go out faster than…what? GTS, Go To Sleep, I don’t know what I’m trying to do. I got rocked too. I told the House of Black, ‘no chops,’ and they chopped me, so I’m very mad.”

What Is CM Punk’s History With “Hangman” Adam Page?

When CM Punk won the AEW World Title for the first time at Double or Nothing in May 2022, the man he beat was “Hangman” Adam Page. In the build up to that match, there was a promo from Page where he went off script and took a shot at Punk. In August 2022 during a promo, CM Punk called Hangman a coward even though they weren’t feuding at the time. Those comments from Punk were unscripted and simply done because he was angry about Hangman.

During CM Punk’s infamous All Out press conference rant in September 2022, he also referenced Hangman as well when he called Page “empty-headed” among other things.

“What did I ever do in this world to deserve an empty-headed f*cking dumb f*ck like Hangman Adam Page to go out on national television and f*cking go into business for himself? For what? What did I do? What did I ever do? Didn’t do a goddamn thing.”

After that promo, Punk got into a backstage fight with The Elite’s Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson, who are good friends with Hangman. Since Punk has come back to AEW, he hasn’t had any interactions with The Elite and when they were all on the Forbidden Door show in June, they were kept in separate parts of the arena. Now, AEW has Dynamite and Collision so Punk is only on Collision to avoid any conflict by being around The Elite.

Back in June when CM Punk returned to AEW after being away for nine months, Punk blasted Hangman Page again saying that Hangman “poisoned everything” about during their 2022 rivalry.

The post-show promo appears to be the most-watched segment from the show, as Collision drew another rating below 500,000 viewers.
