Cash Wheeler Not Injured Despite Earlier Reports

Cash Wheeler taunting in the ring alongside Dax Harwood

Cash Wheeler is not due to be absent from TV despite initial reports.

As seen on the October 7th episode of AEW Collision, FTR shockingly lost the Tag Team Championships to Big Bill and Ricky Starks in what was essentially a squash match. Furthermore, Wheeler was not factored into the match as he was driven through the announce table. With the FTR member barely involved in the match, it was first reported that Wheeler was dealing with an injury and this was a way to write him off of TV. However, this now appears to not be the case.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Wheeler is not injured and this was all part of a storyline to establish Starks and Big Bill as a top team:

So the deal, I guess, is that Cash Wheeler wasn’t hurt, and it’s all storyline. [He wasn’t hurt?] No, it’s storyline. And, you know, it was just to put those guys over big. And, you know, they’re gonna be back in the mix. And it was, it was the match thing. I mean, the match thing was their idea for sure. [Alvarez mentioned no one disputed Cash Wheeler was injured up until this point] They said that it’s all story. There’s no injury, it was just that. But there’s supposed to be a rematch. I mean, the way it was laid out. It’s setting up a rematch. When Ricky Starks and Big Bill said there’s gonna be no rematch. It was to say it was basically set up a rematch.

When Will Dax Harwood And Cash Wheeler Return?

With Dax Harwood recently registering a trademark related to CM Punk, some fans believed that FTR may have dropped the titles as they would be departing the company in the near future. However, Harwood himself would confirm that FTR is not going anywhere anytime soon.

It is unknown when FTR will be next on TV as the Collision regulars have not been announced for the October 14th broadcast.
