Oba Femi Praised By WWE Veteran: “The Air Changes When He Enters An Arena”
The WWE’s biggest rising star, Oba Femi, is standing out from the pack ahead of his huge match at SummerSlam.
At WWE SummerSlam, the rivalry between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar will likely end in their Hell in a Cell match.
Oba Femi won his first match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, Lesnar won the rematch at Clash in Italy, and now they’ll have the feud ender inside the cell.
It was announced earlier today that the Oba Femi-Brock Lesnar match will take place on SummerSlam Saturday on August 1st. It hasn’t been announced yet if it will lead off the show or if there will be another place for the match.
Joe Tessitore is an ESPN announcer and also a WWE announcer who has seen Femi in action plenty of times. During an appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Tessitore talked about Femi’s presence.
“He’s so much better than you could have even thought that he would be, and everybody thought he would be the man. It’s how quickly he’s already established himself.
I said this for years, when people would ask ‘What’s it like when you’re sitting there in the arena and you’re broadcasting with Brock Lesnar?’ I’d say ‘I’m telling you right now, the air changes. You can actually sense danger. You know that he’s not like other men in combat sports.’
That is already what is happening with Oba Femi, the air changes when he enters an arena. We experienced it just recently at Madison Square Garden, he came out before we went on the air and just cut a promo. The place goes crazy.
Everybody knows, every generation has that guy that looks like the unbeatable, unconquerable beast, in this case, the ruler, he’s it. He’s very much it, and it didn’t take long for him to get to that place of that status.” (h/t Wrestletalk)
Oba Femi Has Impressed WWE Boss, Triple H
On the new season of WWE Unreal on Netflix, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, spoke about the Oba Femi-Brock Lesnar feud and what he sees in Femi. This was before the two men competed at WrestleMania 42 for the first time.
“Oba Femi versus Brock Lesnar is money. If we played our cards correctly, we could have something white hot.
There’s not a lot of real estate on WrestleMania, but Oba is the most legitimate bad motherfu**er that has walked through the door in a while. They’re already going holy sh** him against Brock Lesnar. He comes across as a grown, mature adult.
“That’s one of those ones where I almost wonder, do they care? He’s going to be the guy that comes in, looks like he can beat Brock. I don’t know that it matters who they’re cheering for. I don’t think it makes a difference. That could be a big marquee fresh match.”
