Bayley Learns Who Her First WWE Women’s Title Challenger Will Be

Bayley was in a celebratory mood on WWE SmackDown and she also found out when she’ll defend her newly won Women’s Championship.

At the Royal Rumble, Bayley put on a legendary performance to win that match and go on to challenge any champion she wanted at WrestleMania. Bayley chose to go after the WWE Women’s Championship held by Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY.

Over the past two months, SKY and the rest of Damage CTRL turned on Bayley, who was all on her own going into the WrestleMania 40 match at Philly. Despite an impressive performance from Sky, Bayley found a way to get the win and become the new WWE Women’s Champion.

For Bayley, winning a championship isn’t new because she is now a four-time Women’s Champion on the main roster along with her one NXT Women’s Title reign. Bayley has also held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles in her career.

On WWE Smackdown in Detroit, Bayley thanked the fans for their support while saying she had somebody in mind to defend the title against. Tiffany Stratton interrupted to say she would accept the open challenge, but Bayley made it clear she wasn’t doing an open challenge. Bayley mentioned Naomi as a deserving challenger, which led to Naomi and Stratton arguing, which led to a match.

Bayley Will Make Her First Title Defense Against Naomi

In a competitive match, the veteran Naomi found a way to win over Stratton by avoiding the Prettiest Moonsault Ever. Naomi would go on to do a jackknife pin cover for the three count.

It was later announced on Smackdown that next week in Pittsburgh, Bayley will defend the WWE Women’s Championship against Naomi. That will be a matchup of close friends because the two women are very close friends along with Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks), so it will be interesting to see how they put that friendship aside to put on a great match.
