Backstage Reason Why Oba Femi Is Facing Brock Lesnar At WWE SummerSlam
A big update on why Oba Femi will battle against Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam has emerged.
Femi picked up one of the bigger wins of his career at Night of Champions, getting the better of Jey Uso to become the 2026 King of the Ring. There was much speculation on which world champion he would face at The Biggest Party of the Summer. However, things took a different turn.
Brock Lesnar returned to the Stamford-based promotion on the RAW after Night of Champions. The Beast Incarnate and Oba Femi immediately reignited their rivalry, and now, the two stars will battle inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), Dave Meltzer stated that the plan was always for Femi to turn down his shot at a world title after winning the KOTR and face Brock Lesnar instead. WWE seemingly wants to portray Oba Femi vs. Roman Reigns as the “biggest match possible.”
The decision was always for Oba Femi to win King of the Ring but turn down his title shot at Roman Reigns for a match with Brock Lesnar.
The idea was to create Reigns vs. Femi as the biggest match possible.

Triple H reacts to huge WWE SummerSlam clash
As of this writing, three matches have been announced for SummerSlam 2026. They are as follows:
- Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins – World Heavyweight Championship Match
- Liv Morgan (c) vs. Iyo Sky – Women’s World Championship Match
- Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi – Hell in a Cell Match
Triple H recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to hype up Femi vs. Lesnar, also confirming that their feud will come to an end at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
