AJ Lee’s Heartbreaking Message About Larry The Dog Passing Away
AJ Lee is heartbroken at her and husband CM Punk’s dog passing away.
Larry was rescued and adopted by WWE star couple AJ Lee and CM Punk shortly after CM Punk left WWE in 2014.
During his hiatus from the WWE, Punk would regularly post pictures of the dog on social media, which led to fans having a connection with Larry.
AJ Lee, who was also away from the wrestling spotlight during that period, cites Larry as being the saviour in her depressive cycles (She has admitted to getting therapy during her promos upon her WWE return in 2025).
Lee shared a heart-wrenching post on Instagram paying tribute to her deceased dog, whom she claims was her best friend, highlighting their escapades and best moments, and in closing, also urges people to adopt rather than buy pets.
Thank you all who donated to animal rescue org @pawschicago in Larry’s memory.
Over a decade ago our Larry Talbot was surrendered there for doing the most. Multiple fosters gave up on him, one stating on record “I cannot allow this chaos in my home any longer”. A professional trainer called him “a lost cause”. He survived abuse and abandonment and was just misunderstood. We knew he was perfect for us. He snuggled on his terms, like a prickly cat.
He stole entire pizzas and donuts off countertops and swallowed them whole like a snake. One time a little abuela saw him on the street, clutched her chest, and yelled “El Chupacabra!” He helped get me out of the deepest depressive cycles and was the center of my happiest days.
AJ notes that the dog achieved massive fame, joking that he got more attention than some athletes.
He went from discarded underdog to having his face plastered across billboards, the United Center, ASPCA campaigns, Rolling Stone, and had more action figures, merchandise, and fan art than most pro athletes. In his golden years, he grew the long beard of a wise wizard and became velcro, permanently attached to my lap. It was the greatest honor to become his emotional support after he spent so long being mine. I just know he’s now with my other furry angels Mugsy and Nacho, causing absolute f-ing mayhem.
I am not okay, half my heart is gone. I get really quiet and private during the hard stuff but I wanted to come on here and say, if you need a best friend who will make every day brighter, who will save your life right back, please adopt don’t shop. Rescue dogs are a special kind of magic.
AJ Lee Is Back In WWE
After a long hiatus, AJ Lee shocked the WWE Universe by returning to the Stamford-based promotion to stand alongside her husband, CM Punk, to face off against The Man, Becky Lynch, and her husband, Seth Rollins. Lee and Lynch feuded all the way up to Survivor Series: War Games, in which Lee won the match for her War Games team by making Lynch tap out to her submission move, Black Widow.
AJ Lee has not made a TV appearance since, and while she is on contract with WWE, insider reports suggest that she will only make sporadic appearances and won’t be a regular as per WWE’s plan.
Her husband, on the other hand, CM Punk, is active full-time and is the current World Heavyweight Champion. Punk defended his title against Bron Breakker in a thrilling match on Raw on its Netflix anniversary special episode on January 6th, 2026. He has most recently been issued a challenge for his title by Judgement Day’s Finn Balor on the latest episode of RAW.
