AEW Star Not Cleared To Compete On Dynamite

An originally advertised match for AEW Dynamite did not take place as planned.

Following on from WrestleDream, Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega were scheduled to face Konosuke Takeshita and Sammy Guevara. However, in a backstage segment taking place before the match, Don Callis stated that the AEW medical team would not allow Guevara to compete. In need of a replacement, Callis announced that Kyle Fletcher would take the place of The Spanish God.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Guevara suffered a concussion while competing at WrestleDream, so will be out for an unknown period of time.

Sammy got a concussion on the pay-per-view. So he’s out until, you know it’s a concussion story. Could be next week, but who knows? But yeah, he’s out.

At the pay-per-view, Guevara would win the match for his team, pinning Jericho after Callis struck Le Champion with a baseball bat.

Don Callis Brings Backup On AEW Dynamite

The last-minute change in line-up proved to be beneficial to Jericho and Omega, as the former AEW World Champions defeated Takeshita and Fletcher, with Callis on commentary putting all of the blame onto Fletcher. The celebrations for Omega and Jericho would be short-lived as the newest member of The Don Callis Family made their presence felt on Dynamite.

Not a part of the record-breaking All In card back in August, the former TNT Champion has recently revealed how he plans to be a part of the Wembley Stadium show in 2024.
