Following his release from TNA on July 1, rumors began circulating that Eric Young could be WWE-bound.

Young has previously had multiple stints in the Stamford promotion. Between 2016 and 2019, he spearheaded the SAnitY faction, which included Alexander Wolfe, Sawyer Fulton, and Nikki Cross. After Fulton sustained a legitimate injury, he was replaced by Killian Dane.

The group originally performed on WWE’s developmental brand, NXT, where Young and Wolfe became one-time NXT Tag Team Champions.

After performing on the main roster for a couple of years, Eric Young was released on April 15, 2020, as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts.

Young returned to TNA, where he ended his second tenure in December 2022. It was reported that he had signed with WWE in November of that year, but never made a single appearance.

He later revealed that he could not work with Vince McMahon, who was the then-WWE boss and accused of sexual assault and trafficking by a former employee. Young asked for his release, which was granted.

His more recent wrestling stint was with TNA, which ended after Slammiversary on June 28, 2026, after he lost to Ricky Sosa in a singles match.

Amid speculation, the Canadian veteran stated on Twitter that TNA had granted him his release after he asked for it, and he was now free to do what he wanted to with his future.

Eric Young’s WWE Return Could Be Around Money In The Bank

Money in the Bank has been an annual event in WWE since 2010. While it has usually taken place between May and July all these years, it was initially scheduled for September in the 2026 calendar.

However, the company later announced that it had been postponed by a month to October, revealing that it would take place on the 10th.

June 8, 2026 – WWE, in conjunction with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and Legends Global, today announced that Money in the Bank will now take place Saturday, October 10 — one month later than originally announced — at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

Money in the Bank features WWE’s biggest Superstars as they battle to earn a briefcase containing a contract for a championship match at a time and place of their choosing anytime within the next year.

Tickets will go on sale starting Friday, July 10 at 10am ET via Ticketmaster.com. Fans can purchase tickets during an exclusive presale starting Thursday, July 9 at 10am ET. Fans can register for the Thursday, July 9 general presale by visiting: https://www.wwe.com/mitb-2026. Additional information can be found at WWE.com/Events.

As for Eric Young’s return to the company, it is speculated to take place around the same time.

Dave Meltzer wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the 46-year-old could be back around September and take on a player-coach role, similar to that of compatriot Shawn Spears in NXT.

Similar to TNA, this will be Eric Young’s third stint in the Stamford-based company.
