Jeff Hardy Went Off Script At Major Event, WWE Veteran Confirms
The legendary Jeff Hardy sometimes does things that are not planned during matches.
Jeff Hardy has had an incredible pro wrestling career over the last 30 years, whether talking about his WWE run or the time he’s spent in TNA, which is where he works now.
As a singles wrestler, Jeff Hardy is a 3-time WWE World Champion and a 3-time TNA World Champion. Hardy is also one-half of the legendary Hardy Boys tag team with his older brother Matt Hardy.
At TNA Slammiversary, The Hardys became TNA Tag Team Champions for a record-tying 5th time, and they’ve also won an incredible 24 Tag Team Titles across multiple promotions in their careers. They won the titles in an incredible 4-team Ladder Match against The System, The Righteous, and The Great Hands that saw Jeff Hardy do the same kind of death-defying stunts he used to do decades ago.
Jeff Hardy Did His Own Thing At TNA Slammiversary
On a recent episode of the “Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy” podcast, Matt spoke about how Jeff did his own thing during the match.
“I’ve got a little wear and tear here tomorrow on this side. Some bruising on the arm.”
“But Jeff is, I was talking to guys about this at TV yesterday, which is so funny. Jeff is like so present in the moment, right? He just, a lot of times, he goes just off script. Like if we’ve talked about something, he just kind of does his own thing.”
As he continued, Matt Hardy had to remind his younger brother, Jeff Hardy, that he had to stay on track in the Ladder Match.
“So I ended up taking the stairs like shoulder first and that’s my arm got jabbed right in the point of the stairs. And it was like super swollen and big for those days. But it’s just because I couldn’t break those tables. I was going, ‘Damn it, Jeff, stay on, stay on track here, man.’”
“And it just is where it is. I mean, that happens a lot with Jeff. It’s one of the things I love about him because he is once he just feels something, he kind of rolls with it.
But sometimes like, ‘Hey, brother, like stay on track, dude.’ But yeah, it’s all good. Fortunately, that wasn’t anything bad. It was just like a lot of fluid and just a very swollen arm and it’s feeling OK now just looks gnarly and nasty.”
It’s a reminder that while it’s important to stay on track in a big match and follow the original plans, there will be instances when a wrestler like Jeff Hardy improvises, and sometimes it can turn out just fine, as it did at Slammiversary.
