2-Time Champion Expected To Return To WWE, Backstage Reaction Revealed

A former United States Champion is expected to return to the WWE, according to the latest report, which also revealed the backstage reaction in the company. The star in question is Baron Corbin (aka Bishop Dyer).

Baron Corbin gained prominence during his time in the WWE from 2012 to 2024. During his tenure in the Stamford-based promotion, Corbin has been a former United States Champion and the former NXT Tag Team Champion as well. The 41-year-old star also had the honor of defeating the legendary Kurt Angle in his retirement match back in 2019.

However, despite a lot of promise, Corbin was unfortunately released from the Sports Entertainment Juggernaut in 2024. Nonetheless, he went on to continue his wrestling career on the indies under the name ‘Bishop Dyer,’ and was under a contract with MLW as well. Meanwhile, Corbin has been rumored for a WWE return.

Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio recently reported that Baron Corbin is probably heading back to WWE, and also speculated that Danhausen was teasing his return:

Probably back in WWE. I’ve not heard it’s a done deal, but I know it’s been talked about, yes. On the SmackDown show, when Danhausen was talking about something bigger, my gut was that that’s who it is”

Meltzer also noted that Corbin has been talked about within WWE for a return:

That’s just my speculation, but I just know that he’s been talked with about being brought in. It might even be done, but I haven’t had it officially confirmed to me it’s done. But I have 100% confirmed that it’s been heavily talked about.”

Backstage reaction in WWE regarding Baron Corbin’s potential return

According to the latest report by Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, The Lone Wolf, Baron Corbin is headed back to the WWE and has been rumored for a return to the company. Wrestlevotes spoke to sources within the Stamford-based promotion, who consider Corbin a favorite in the locker room, and those people would like to see him make a WWE return.

The report concluded by stating that sources within the WWE believe that Baron Corbin is headed back to the promotion. The report also confirmed that Corbin has finished up with MLW and is apparently a free agent now.

Baron Corbin is reportedly believed to have re-signed with WWE or will re-sign imminently.

Fans will have to wait and see if Baron Corbin will actually return to the WWE sooner rather than later.
