WWE Championship Match Announced for Elimination Chamber on Feb. 17, Daniel Bryan Introduces New WWE Title

TJR Wrestling

The WWE Championship will be on the line in an Elimination Chamber match on February 17 in Houston. It was announced on Smackdown. Before we get to that, though, here’s some of the promo that Daniel Bryan delivered where he announced a new WWE Championship that is made from 100% sustainable organic hemp. You can watch part of the promo below.

After Bryan introduced the new WWE Title, five Smackdown wrestlers showed up to try to claim they are worthy of a WWE Championship match: AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Mustafa Ali, Jeff Hardy and Samoa Joe. That led to the obvious announcement of an Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Title with Triple H announcing the match on the video screen.

It would be a surprise to see Daniel Bryan lose the new look WWE Title at Elimination Chamber. I think he’ll carry it at least until WrestleMania, but in WWE, anything can happen.

The next WWE pay-per-view is Elimination Chamber on February 17 in Houston. Here’s what we know so far.

WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Randy Orton vs. Mustafa Ali vs. Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy

Smackdown Tag Team Championships: The Miz and Shane McMahon (c) vs. The Usos

Women’s Tag Team Titles Elimination Chamber Match: Nia Jax and Tamina vs. Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan vs. another Raw team vs. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville vs. two more Smackdown teams.

There will be more to come over the next two weeks. Here are some guesses at other matches based on WWE TV this week. These are just thoughts from me and not confirmed.

* Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade – After they had two great TV matches on Smackdown, it’s time to give them the PPV spotlight. Andrade attacked Rey on Smackdown this week when Rey was going to wrestle Samoa Joe, so it looks like they’ll get a big match there. It might be a stipulation match too.

* Bobby Lashley vs. Finn Balor for the Intercontinental Title – This seems pretty obvious after Lashley beat up Balor on Raw this past week.

* Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch – Since they got into another fight this week on Smackdown, it’s possible they will wrestle again. The reports are that the WrestleMania plan is still Ronda Rousey vs. Lynch vs. Flair even though WWE announced it’s Rousey vs. Lynch at WrestleMania.

* Braun Strowman vs. Drew McIntyre (and Baron Corbin?) – Strowman was attacked by both McIntyre and Corbin on Raw, so that likely means he’s facing at least one of them at Elimination Chamber. It’s possible that WWE books him in a handicap match at Elimination Chamber as well.

I’m not sure if Ronda Rousey is wrestling at Elimination Chamber. She might be off this PPV. Perhaps she will have a match at Fastlane in March, but I don’t know.

Brock Lesnar, the Universal Champion, is not expected to have a match at Elimination Chamber. I don’t think he will wrestle at Fastlane either. Next match is against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania.

There’s still two more weeks of Raw and Smackdown until Elimination Chamber, so we’ll know more after next week’s Raw and Smackdown.
