It was announced earlier this week that the June 1st WWE NXT Takeover event will take place at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. What we don’t know right now are the official matches for the show.

However, based on the recent NXT tapings last week, there are several matches that are expected to take place. Here’s the expected lineup courtesy of this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

NXT Championship: Johnny Gargano (c) vs. Adam Cole

For the Vacant NXT Tag Team Championships: The Street Profits vs. Forgotten Sons vs. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch vs. The Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish (This match or the Gargano/Cole match could be a Ladder match based on an angle shot at the last tapings.)

North American Championship: Velveteen Dream (c) vs. Tyler Breeze

Matt Riddle vs. Roderick Strong

The final match is not certain, but it will likely be NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler vs. Io Shirai. That makes sense because there is usually one women’s match on a Takeover card.

TJR Thoughts: It’s a good card, but not as strong as NXT Takeover New York was in April. Also, you can see that the Undisputed Era group will be featured heavily in three of the matches.

Gargano vs. Cole is a rematch of their outstanding, five star match at NXT Takeover New York. I loved it and I’m happy they are doing it again.
