WWE NXT returned to the Performance Center tonight following a trip to Texas last week, as the build to Stand and Deliver continued with a fiery start to the episode tonight.

All NXT champions are expected to defend their championships on the brand’s biggest show of the year, and the challengers for the WWE NXT Tag Team Championships are being finalized via a number-one contender’s tournament.

Robert Stone made his decision a couple of weeks back, and it began last week when The Birthright moved one step closer to challenging for the belts after defeating Hank and Tank.

WWE NXT Tag Team Tournament match thrown in jeopardy

Another match of the tournament was scheduled for tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, which would’ve seen Eli Knight and Elio LeFleur take on The Culling, but the match won’t be taking place.

The show began with a security member rushing Robert Stone backstage, and it was later shown that Knight and LeFleur were the victims of a brutal backstage attack that saw them writhe in pain on the ground.

Booker T and Vic Joseph then announced that both of them have been taken to the hospital after suffering the attack, indicating that their scheduled match won’t go ahead.
