WWE star Santos Escobar is set to undergo surgery.

Escobar, who inked a new deal with the Stamford promotion in October last year, has been a regular on AAA Lucha Libre since January 2026.

He was recently in the news after his profile appeared in WWE’s alumni section. It was later clarified that the profile was not moved back to its original state despite him signing a new deal and that he remains contracted with the company.

Escobar remains the leader of Legado del Fantasma, with Angel and Berto as his stablemates. The Los Garza duo faced Damien Priest and R-Truth on the latest SmackDown episode, but were unable to secure a win.

What’s Known About WWE Star Santos Escobar’s Injury?

During his first AAA appearance on January 17, Santos Escobar confronted the AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. and attacked him, kickstarting a feud.

The two superstars were featured in a match at an NXT Live show in Nashville on January 30. Fightful Select has reported that he hurt his triceps during that match, an injury he has carried ever since.

The WWE star then competed in a Rey de Reyes 4-way qualifying match, winning against Psycho Clown, Abismo Negro Jr., and Mr. Iguana.

At Rey de Reyes on March 14, Escobar fought the Original El Grande Americano, La Parka, and El Grande Americano, who won the final match.

The report further reveals that his injury worsened during the bout, forcing him to not only undergo surgery on Thursday, but also miss appearances for an indefinite period.

Fightful Select & Fightful EspaƱol has learned that Santos Escobar worked AAA Rey de Reyes injured. The injury got more aggravated during the match, and he is set to undergo surgery this Thursday for a torn tricep.
