Cody Rhodes is yet to secure his spot for WrestleMania 42.

The American Nightmare qualified for the Elimination Chamber men’s match after defeating Jacob Fatu and Sami Zayn.

If he wins, Rhodes can secure his WrestleMania 42 spot as Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre’s challenger. However, that is yet to be determined.

Drew McIntyre does not want to fight Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 42

McIntyre had Nick Aldis write in a no-rematch clause in the contract for Rhodes vs. McIntyre’s Undisputed WWE Championship match.

On Busted Open Radio, Drew McIntyre was asked if he had anyone particular in mind for a championship match at WrestleMania. While The Scottish Warrior did not specifically name anyone he would like as a challenger, he did mention that he did not want Cody Rhodes.

According to him, he doesn’t want WWE’s “golden boy” to get his hands on the title again and then remain protected. He liberated the title and wants to keep it that way.

I’m concerned, considering how the first two matches went and the referees bailing him out, and for the cage match.

Um, you know, I won, and obviously people are, oh, it was because of Jacob. Was it, though? I’ve not said this because I don’t have to, but Jacob said it himself. ‘Wasn’t Drew on his way out of the cage when I got there?’ I didn’t just overcome Cody. I overcame Cody and Jacob. And I can’t get the title back on Cody, where he’s protected again. He’s back in the Golden Boy spot. I liberated this title for everybody, but mostly me, because I believe I’m the man that needs to carry it forward into the future to make SmackDown feel the way it feels right now.

Cody Rhodes was eliminated from the Royal Rumble men’s match by Drew McIntyre. The Scottish Warrior tried the same during the Elimination Chamber qualifying match, but failed.
