7-Time Champion Almost Joined AEW; Huge WWE Offer Stopped The Move
This major star almost joined the Tony Khan-led promotion, a new report explains.
One of the stars in the main roster today to emerge from the NXT scene is Damian Priest.
The 43-year-old’s career began in 2005 in the independent circuit, where he wrestled for years before eventually signing with WWE in 2018 as part of the NXT developmental program.
He had a good run, becoming the NXT North American Champion and later winning the United States Title and the World Heavyweight Title on the main roster. He also famously held tag team gold with Finn Balor when Priest was part of the Judgement Day faction.
A new report has emerged saying that Priest could have moved to AEW in 2024.
Damian Priest’s WWE Offer And Contract Extension
Priest’s WWE contract was about to expire in 2024, and AEW was very close to signing him before WWE brought in a seven-figure contract for renewal, reports Self Made Pro.
This was revealed in a Self-Made Session that aired on 9 March.
Damian Priest almost got signed by AEW in 2024, and WWE swooped in with seven-figure money.
This worked out in Priest’s favor as he went on a singles run after quitting Judgement Day and won the World Heavyweight Championship.
