WWE Smackdown Star Set For Surgery This Week

A WWE superstar that was recently drafted to Smackdown will be undergoing surgery this week.

The May 12th edition of WWE Smackdown saw the Women’s Tag Team Champions Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan defend their titles against Bayley & Dakota Kai in a match for the titles.

Rodriguez & Morgan got the win after Bayley had communications issues with IYO SKY, who was outside the ring. Unfortunately for two women in the match, there were some significant injuries as well.

Dakota Kai suffered an injury during the match and so did Liv Morgan. It has been reported that Liv Morgan might need surgery for her injured shoulder although that has not been confirmed at this point.

As for Kai, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reports that she suffered a torn ACL in her knee that will require surgery.

“Dakota Kai’s injury was confirmed as a torn ACL. The injury took place in the same match on May 12 that Liv Morgan was injured in with Raquel Rodriguez & Morgan vs. Kai & Bayley for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles. The word was that she was injured after Morgan suffered her shoulder injury and the knee injury came in a spot where she knew Morgan was hurt and was trying to protect her.”

“Kai is scheduled for surgery tomorrow.”

A torn ACL is a terrible injury because no matter who you are, the estimated time off will be anywhere from 7-10 months and possibly more than that. In late 2018, Kai suffered a torn ACL and returned about nine months later in September 2019.

Due to Morgan’s injury, WWE forced Rodriguez & Morgan to vacate the Women’s Tag Team Titles. WWE announced a Fatal 4-Way Match to determine the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions on the May 29th edition of Raw. It will be Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler vs. Bayley & IYO SKY vs. Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville vs. Raquel Rodriguez & a partner to be chosen.
