A recent WWE SmackDown match was the result of a late decision by the company’s creative team.

The November 17th edition of WWE SmackDown from Evansville featured an exciting matchup between Dragon Lee and NXT’s Axiom. Dragon Lee was recently moved to SmackDown from NXT and has been picking up victories ever since. Lee also beat Axiom in their match.

During their SmackDown match, WWE announcers remarked that it was something of a tribute match for Rey Mysterio, who was injured by Santos Escobar one year earlier. Since Rey is considered the greatest masked wrestler of all time, WWE decided to do a matchup between two talented masked wrestlers like Dragon Lee and Axiom.

As it turns out, the match between Dragon Lee and Axiom on SmackDown was a last-minute decision, according to PWInsider. They noted that Axiom was booked for the taping on the morning of SmackDown on Friday.

It was also reported that Axiom remains a NXT superstar and he has not been called up to SmackDown. That’s something Fightful Select has also reported.

What Title Match Is Set To Take Place On The SmackDown Before Survivor Series?

The final SmackDown episode before Survivor Series is set to take place on November 24th in Chicago. It will air on FS1 instead of FOX in the United States.

One of the big matches set for the show includes The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor & Damian Priest defending the WWE Tag Team Titles against The Street Profits duo of Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins. The Street Profits won a triple threat match to earn the title match.

In addition to that, Grayson Waller will host Kevin Owens on the Grayson Waller Effect talk show.
