WWE News: Smackdown Overnight Viewership Numbers Steady With Recent Numbers

The WWE Smackdown ratings on Fox showed that the viewership numbers were holding steady based on the recent numbers. The ratings come from Neilsen in the United States and are reported by Showbuzz Daily. These were the overnight numbers reported on Saturday. They have final numbers on Monday that are usually very similar.

This week’s Smackdown audience did an average number of 1.979 million viewers.

There was also audience growth during the show because the first hour did 1.932 million viewers and then the audience went up to 2.025 million viewers in the second hour.

One of the key numbers that networks and advertisers look at is how a show does in the 18-49 age group demographic. Smackdown did very well because they did a 0.5 rating among 18-49 viewers and that was the best of the network TV shows on Friday night.

The Smackdown audience over the last five weeks looks like this:

August 6 – 1.956 million viewers.

July 31 – 1.873 million.

July 24 – 1.971 million.

July 17 – 1.893 million.

July 10 – 1.777 million.

Prior to the pandemic hitting in mid-March causing fans to stop attending shows, the average Smackdown viewership was in the 2.4 million to 2.7 million range.

Next week’s Smackdown will be a live show from WWE’s new home in Orlando, the Amway Center.

Smackdown is the most watched weekly wrestling show in the United States and it’s also available to the most people since Fox is national television in the US rather than cable television for Raw, NXT, AEW Dynamite and other wrestling shows.
