WWE Legend Blames Wrestling Career For Two Divorces
One WWE Hall of Famer has laid the blame for his two divorces squarely at the door of the wrestling industry.
The wrestling business has never been one that has settled well alongside the sanctity of marriage. Time away from home seems to be the biggest contributor to wrestlers’ relationships breaking down, before even considering what kind of antics go on on the road.
While WWE stars of today have no problem in dating, marrying, and starting families with one another, they might want to use previous generations as cautionary tales.
WWE’s Michael Hayes Made Wrestling Number One
Speaking on Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway, WWE producer Michael Hayes confirmed that his commitment to his career and the wrestling industry might explain why he has two failed marriages behind him:
The challenge of doing it and trying to keep everything interesting is a major driving force for me. I think that’s probably why I’ve been divorced twice—is because wrestling was number one. And I’ve finally come to realize that and admit that, you know?
And I don’t know, I can’t sometimes now, I look back and I go, ‘God, how hard could it have been on both of them to realize they weren’t number one, they were number two?’ Didn’t mean anything to me because it’s worked fine for me, because that’s how I like life.
