WWE Star CM Punk Confesses: “It Didn’t Hurt My Feelings”
CM Punk’s love-hate relationship with wrestling fans is no secret.
While The Second City Saint is nurturing towards supportive fans, he is also notorious for his strict stance towards obsessive behavior and invasion of personal space.
Following WrestleMania 42, he was in the news for smacking a phone out of a fan’s hand in the lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino after they got too close to WWE stars Bayley and Punk’s wife, AJ Lee, who were saying their goodbyes to each other.
More recently, a fan shared a video accusing CM Punk of ignoring her and her children outside his hotel. In response, Punk, in a now-deleted social media post, cautioned his followers against stalking him in public spaces.
Punk will be next seen competing at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where he will team up with Cody Rhodes to face Gunther and Sami Zayn.
CM Punk Reveals The Reason Why He Quit Twitter
CM Punk enjoys using Instagram, which is evidenced by the variety of posts he uploads on his account.
It is also a well-known fact that the 47-year-old quit Twitter a few years back despite it being one of the go-to platforms used by wrestlers to interact with their fans.
During a recent virtual interview with ESPN New York, Punk was asked the reason behind ditching Twitter when other celebrities and entertainers use it to maintain their social presence.
Punk defended his decision by claiming that the platform no longer felt like a safe space, considering the number of fake accounts it has and the negative sentiments that come out of it.
I don’t think a lot of them are real people anymore. I honestly think it’s bot farms, and they just attach onto whatever the hell an algorithm is. They repeat and regurgitate what other people are saying.
It winds up just being this cesspool of negativity. It’s pretty wild, and it’s pretty unhealthy.
CM Punk also shared his experience with a social media post that made him quit the platform altogether, though he admitted that he was not necessarily hurt by it.
The thing that got me to abandon Twitter was when I shattered my foot. I saw somebody say they were happy about it.
It didn’t hurt my feelings. I just went, ‘Oh, this is not a comment that I would have seen if I didn’t look at Twitter, so I’m just going to stop looking at this.’
Despite being known to possess a confrontational personality, Punk decided to take the high road on that day. Instead of engaging in an argument with the fan, he fully disengaged from the situation.
