WWE Hall Of Famer Doubts CM Punk Came To AEW To Care About The Company

With even more question marks around CM Punk’s AEW return, a WWE Hall Of Famer has doubted he went there with the company at the front of his mind.

There had been plenty of speculation that the return of CM Punk to AEW would coincide with the announcement of its new weekly television programme, Collision. Although that was announced earlier this week, the former AEW World Champion wasn’t part of any of the advertising material and it later emerged that he had seemingly been removed from it amidst another rift with AEW.

Since then there has also been talk surrounding Ace Steel and what role he might play in the return of Punk, although recent reports would suggest that he was rehired by the company shortly after he was released following the All Out brawl.

Now, Booker T has cast doubt on whether CM Punk went to AEW with intentions which were beneficial for the company. In a discussion on his Hall Of Fame podcast, the multi-time World Champion made clear the reasons he thinks Punk made the decision to return to the squared circle.

I don’t think CM Punk came in there to care about AEW. I think he came in there to say what he was going to do, and that was get a big bag and have some big matches and do some cool things… Do you think he really came in there to help that company or help those guys? Because the first person he worked with was Darby Allin. Darby has cooled off tremendously since that match.

Booker T also recently revealed the insane contract he missed out on whilst with WCW.
