Major Update On Cody Rhodes WWE Contract Status

Cody Rhodes

A new report reveals some very positive news for WWE fans as it relates to the contract status of Cody Rhodes.

There was a report credited to Fightful Select that stated that WWE was interested in signing Cody Rhodes to a new contract. They did not reveal when his contract was going to expire, but if he signed a three-year deal when he returned to WWE in early 2022 then it likely would be early 2025 when the deal was set to expire.

It has been reported by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer that the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes signed a new contract with WWE in October.

The Wrestling Observer story noted that the terms of the deal are not known at this time. Dave Meltzer said that it was similar timing to the Charlotte Flair deal where it was learned this month that she signed a new contract in the months prior.

What’s interesting about that timeline is that Fightful’s story mentioned that Cody got a new bus around Thanksgiving (late November), which led to some people in WWE thinking that Cody had his new deal. Now that Meltzer says that Cody signed in October, the new bus in November makes a lot of sense.

In an update from Fightful Select after the Observer story, they report that the “initial offer from WWE was made in October, but no deal was signed at that point. One is expected to be signed, and an agreement is in place.”

Some other big WWE names that recently signed new deals include the 49-year-old WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, who is believed to have signed a three-year deal and his son Dominik Mysterio signed a new deal as well.

As for Charlotte Flair, she reportedly re-signed with WWE recently for one of the biggest contracts for any woman in company history. Sadly, Charlotte will likely miss most of 2024 due to a serious knee injury that will require surgery and have a lengthy rehab as well.

There could be more superstars that have re-signed recently as well, but some of them may not be known yet. Since Endeavor acquired WWE to form the TKO Group, it has become apparent that they are being aggressive in terms of signing top talent to long term deals.

Cody Rhodes Is Looking For A Royal Rumble Repeat

The year 2023 has been a career year for Cody Rhodes since he won the Royal Rumble in January and went on to headline WrestleMania 39 with Roman Reigns. Unfortunately for Cody, he wasn’t able to finish his story (due to interference from Solo Sikoa) by becoming a WWE Champion, but he will continue to keep trying to reach that goal.

Looking ahead to the new year, Cody Rhodes has already declared for the 2024 Royal Rumble match on January 27th where he will try to be a repeat winner like Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin.
