Why WWE Should Book Ex-Champion To Retire John Cena
WWE has seemingly been presented with a unique opportunity that involves John Cena.
The 17-time World Champion will wrestle in his final match on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event, with 5 dates remaining on his retirement tour.
That said, a host of names have emerged, including Brock Lesnar, Dominik Mysterio, and Drew McIntyre, as suitable candidates to fill the slot.
A wrestling personality has highlighted a standalone statistic that the Stamford promotion might benefit from in the long run.
Sam Roberts of Notsam Wrestling revealed why Gunther should retire Cena.
You have the opportunity to have one guy retire Goldberg and John Cena in the same year. You’ll never have an opportunity like that again. That’s once in a lifetime. So, if Gunther is back from injury, that would be a good thing to do. It also gives you the opportunity to go to Gunther vs. Brock Lesnar. [From 10:57 onwards]
John Cena To Return At WWE Crown Jewel
John Cena has not appeared in WWE since Wrestlepalooza, where he was demolished in under 9 minutes by Brock Lesnar.
The 48-year-old will be next seen at Crown Jewel on October 11. It is the first Crown Jewel event outside Saudi Arabia, and will be held in Perth, Australia.
Cena will face AJ Styles, with whom he shared a personal rivalry in the mid-2010s, during which he also became the then record-equaling 16-time World Champion.
Initially, WWE had planned to include Styles in Cena’s retirement tour, but the plan did not materialize. So, the 17-time champion recently took to X and urged Triple H to listen to the fans and book the match.
WWE Crown Jewel will also see the current men’s and women’s champions on RAW and SmackDown square off against each other in singles competitions for the Crown Jewel Championship.
Also, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky will challenge the Kabuki Warriors in a tag team match.
