Updated WWE Clash of Champions Lineup Including Two More Title Matches, King of the Ring Quarterfinals

TJR Wrestling

There were two more matches added to the WWE Clash of the Champions pay-per-view lineup on September 15 in Charlotte, NC. Both of them are title matches.

Prior to last night’s edition of WWE Smackdown Live, WWE announced a WWE Title rematch with Kofi Kingston defending the gold against Randy Orton. That was expected. For now, it’s just a regular match, but perhaps it will become a stipulation match because usually that’s what you get with a rematch. Then again with Hell in a Cell as the next PPV in October, perhaps WWE will have the feud carry over into that show.

On 205 Live, rising star Humberto Carrillo beat Oney Lorcan in a Number One Contender’s match to earn a title shot against Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak.

Here’s the official lineup so far.

WWE Universal Championship: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Braun Strowman

WWE Championship: Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Randy Orton – This was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Smackdown Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

Raw Tag Team Championships: Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode

King of the Ring Tournament Finals: Raw wrestler (Ricochet, Samoa Joe, Baron Corbin or Cedric Alexander) vs. Smackdown wrestler (Elias, Ali, Andrade or Chad Gable)

Cruiserweight Championship: Drew Gulak (c) vs. Humberto Carrillo

Other notes:

Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch will probably face Sasha Banks.

Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura has been challenged by The Miz. It’s not official yet, but it will happen at this show. The Miz lost his first round King of the Ring match, yet he gets an IC TItle match because…hey it’s WWE. They don’t really explain things.

United States Champion AJ Styles will likely have a match on the show since every title is supposed to be on the line. It’s not known who his opponent will be.

Smackdown Tag Team Champions The New Day have been challenged by The Revival. That’s not official yet either, but it should take place at this show.

Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross have no obvious challengers at the moment.

If there’s a non-title and non-tournament match on the card then it might be Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan.

KING OF THE RING UPDATE

The King of the Ring tournament will culminate on at Clash of Champions on September. There are eight guys left as we enter the quarterfinals.

Next Monday on Raw, which is Labor Day, it will be Samoa Joe vs. Ricochet and Cedric Alexander vs. Baron Corbin. The winners of those matches will meet in the semifinals on the September 9th Raw at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Next Tuesday on Smackdown, it will be Elias vs. Ali and Chad Gable vs. Andrades. The winners of those matches will meet in the semifinals on the September 10th Smackdown at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

My pick is Andrade over Ricochet in the finals. How about you? There are plenty of ways it can go, but I think Ricochet and Andrade are the right choices to make the finals.
