Triple H’s Ex-Partner Could Replace Legend, But Not In WWE – Reports
One of Triple H’s former WWE stablemates is being eyed to replace Tommy Dreamer in TNA.
TNA’s latest crisis has been the talk of the town after multiple talents and members of the staff were released over the last several weeks.
2026 was supposed to turn the Nashville promotion’s fate around after securing a multi-year AMC deal, which was guaranteed to bring the company more exposure as far as viewership was concerned.
But for many fans, not much has changed for TNA; instead, new issues have taken center stage.
Since the turn of the new year, several wrestlers have left the company, including The Rascalz trio of Zachary Wentz, Myron Reed, and Dezmond Xavier, and Jake Doyle.
A few more names got added to the departures list starting in March, with Mance Warner, Dani Luna, Myla Grace, and Steve Maclin leaving the company.
Tessa Blanchard also asked for her release from the company recently, which was granted. The current TNA World Champion Mike Santana will also reportedly wrap up after his current contract ends, as the Stamford promotion has shown interest in signing him.
Elsewhere, WWE and ECW great Tommy Dreamer announced during a Busted Open Radio session that he had mutually parted ways with TNA after nearly a decade.
Dreamer also contributed to the storylines as part of the creative team, a spot now left vacant by his departure. On the plus side, a former WWE talent and Triple H’s DX stablemate has been discussed to replace Dreamer in TNA.
Ex-WWE Co-Lead Writer Road Dogg Could Join TNA
“Road Dogg” Brian James found himself in a crisis of his own before deciding to leave WWE in March 2026.
James had joined the Stamford-based company’s creative team as the co-lead writer of SmackDown in February 2025. It is also noteworthy that 2025 was a bad year as far as viewership was concerned for the blue brand.
Amid poor SmackDown ratings, WWE’s Unreal documentary showed James in a bad light after he backed Chelsea Green to get a push in the company. However, his decision was contested by other authority figures, including Triple H, leaving him looking like the weakest among the members of the creative team.
Since then, Road Dogg has spoken his side of the story on multiple occasions, admitting that the creative process was hectic and he needed respite from it. WWE Hall of Famer JBL also criticized fans who thought James did not do a good job.
While James has yet to make his next career move, it seems like opportunity would imminently knock on his door, and soon.
The TNA crisis has sent the company’s higher-ups to look for a replacement for Tommy Dreamer while Delirious would hold the fort as the head booker.
A report from Fightful Select claimed the following:
Tommy Dreamer is out as TNA’s head of creative. Tommy Dreamer said that he and Carlos Silva had a conversation regarding his departure this week. Some TNA sources said they knew the move was coming in recent weeks, but expected it to happen after TNA Slammiversary. Fightful immediately heard from industry sources that Road Dogg had been discussed within TNA as a potential replacement for Tommy Dreamer. Road Dogg left WWE earlier this year.
