WWE Legend Defended After Sudden Exit: “F**k You”
A WWE Hall of Famer got defended against the criticism of his job a few months after his exit from the company. The legend in question is “Road Dogg” Jesse James.
Road Dogg first joined the WWE as a performer back in 1994 and gained prominence during his time in the D-Generation X faction. After his in-ring retirement, the Hall of Famer was a part of the Stamford-based promotion as a backstage executive.
Road Dogg was also criticised for his role as the lead writer of SmackDown recently. Many fans were not happy with the show’s creative direction. Amid all the backlash, Road Dogg suddenly departed from the WWE in March.
WWE Hall of Famer defended against backlash after his departure
Speaking on the Something to Wrestle podcast, the WWE name, JBL came to the defense of the Hall of Famer, Road Dogg, against backlash, weighing in on the record business the company has done:
These guys that are out there, they’re talking about Road Dogg didn’t go a good job, man f**k you. It’s just bullsh*t. These guys are selling out arenas all over the world, making more money — we never dreamed that people would make money like this. Road Dogg was one of the guys behind it.”
JBL also weighed in on how writing TV shows for wrestling is difficult:
I can tell you all of the things that Vince failed with. I can also tell you that Vince bought a company from his father for a million dollars and sold it for $9.3B and somehow regained control. That’s Game Of Thrones sh*t. But do you fail a lot? Absolutely. When you got 52 weeks a year live, no reruns, do you think you’re going to make some mistakes? I would hope so because if you’re not making mistakes, you’re not trying.”
This isn’t a TV episode show where you can do 13 episodes and you film it, you put it in a can and then if you don’t like it, you go back and edit it. This is live. You’re talking about people who may or may not deliver what you’re thinking they’re going to deliver. Sometimes they do something that is not what they’re supposed to do. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. If it doesn’t work, you get the blame for that too. There’s a lot of things going on.” [H/T Fightful]
Only time will tell what the future holds for Road Dogg after his WWE departure.
