Breaking: WWE Hall Of Famer And SmackDown Co-Lead Writer Departs Company
WWE’s latest shakeup in its creative team saw Brian James, aka Road Dogg, depart the company.
After making sporadic appearances on TV in the early 2010s, James began working permanently as a producer in 2014.
He has donned several hats backstage, the most recent being the co-lead writer for SmackDown. The 56-year-old was heavily featured in Season 2 of WWE: Unreal, the Netflix docuseries.
The Stamford promotion has recently been undergoing a transition with its writing team, with Road Dogg’s exit being a part of that change.
Bodyslam.net initially confirmed the report of James’ departure, who had been in a backstage role since 2014.
The writing staff also witnessed another massive change, as Alexandra Williams was promoted to Vice President and Lead Writer for Monday Night Raw, which she announced on her LinkedIn page.
WWE Planning History-Making Booking For WrestleMania
With the Elimination Chamber in the rearview mirror, WWE has set its sights on building up the card for WrestleMania 42.
Triple H & Co. have also considered naming more matches featuring female wrestlers. According to a report by WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, the April event could witness as many as 6 bouts with women in it.
Featuring six matches with female wrestlers would break the previous record of 5 matches, which occurred at WrestleMania 36.
So far, two matches for Raw and SmackDown titles have been announced, with Rhea Ripley taking on Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship and Liv Morgan challenging Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship.
Elsewhere, AJ Lee, who was recently crowned the Women’s Intercontinental Champion, has also made her intentions clear about being featured on The Show of Shows, scheduled for April 18 & 19.
