Trick Williams’ Discusses Former Rival Losing Title On WWE SmackDown
Trick Williams has recently shared his thoughts on his former rival ahead of WrestleMania 42.
Trick Williams was ringside this past Friday on SmackDown for a match between the United States Champion, Carmelo Hayes, and challenger Sami Zayn, with the former’s title on the line.
A confrontation between Williams and Zayn backstage in an earlier segment would lead to Trick attempting to interfere in the match, but instead of costing Zayn the opportunity, he botched his attempted interference by punching Hayes instead of Zayn.
This gave Zayn the advantage, and he picked up the victory to become the new US Champion. It was also announced later that Trick Williams will face Sami Zayn for the United States Title at WrestleMania 42.
Trick Williams Shares His Thoughts On Former Partner Carmelo Hayes Losing His US Title
Hayes and Williams were a tag team and rivals back in NXT. Williams said in an appearance on Mornings with Mero that he wants to see Hayes get his moment, since he thinks that the young star deserves it.
Me and Melo, we go way back of course and I would love to see him get his moment, and he deserves that.
And you never know he probably still will. He carried that US Title great, so he deserves that moment, I’m sure he’s gonna get his moment.
Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams last competed in the ring in a triple threat match along with Damian Priest on SmackDown in February to try and qualify for the Elimination Chamber match at the eponymous PLE. Williams was the eventual winner of that bout.
