Top WWE Star Addresses His Future: “Definitely Closer To The End Than The Beginning”
A former WWE United States Champion reflected on the potential end of his wrestling career. The star in discussion is Sami Zayn.
After making his name on the independent wrestling scene all over the world as ‘El Generico,’ Sami Zayn arrived on the WWE scene back in 2013. Throughout his run in the Sports Entertainment Juggernaut, Sami has won a number of titles and had many memorable moments as well. Many believe that Sami’s stint with The Bloodline in 2022-23 was some of the best work of his career.
Lately, Sami Zayn has been in a feud with Trick Williams, who was recently called up from NXT. At WrestleMania 42, Trick defeated Sami to capture the United States title. Over the past few weeks, fans have seen a shift in Sami’s on-screen character from beloved babyface to polarizing. In a recent interview, Sami opened up on whether he is a heel now. Zayn said that while he is getting booed, he is also getting cheered from the fans:
I’m getting booed, but then I’m high-fiving fans on the way to the ring. There was this one week I got booed heavily, and then I stayed in the ring during the commercial break, and my match started, but during the break, when I was standing in the ring looking around, all these fans were waving and showing little hearts. I was like, what’s going on here?”
WWE star believes that he is closing in on in-ring retirement
During his recent interview with Witty Whittier, the WWE star, Sami Zayn stated that his time is probably coming to an end, and he is closer to the end than the beginning. Sami also expressed gratitude for still being a part of the WWE:
I’ve been lucky that WWE and my time in this business has been more than a blip, but I realize that this time will probably be coming to an end within the next — I don’t want to put a number of years on it, but definitely closer to the end than the beginning. So, I’m just very very grateful to be a part of it still.” [h/t sescoops]
