Top AEW Star Says They Don’t Want To Leave

AEW star Darby Allin has declared that he will be with the company for the long term.

The 31 year-old star joined AEW in April 2019, just weeks after it’s high-profile launch. Since then the Washington-native has gone on to capture the TNT Championship on two occasions as well as playing a key role in Sting’s final year as an active professional wrestler, holding the World Tag Team Championship with the legendary icon until his retirement at AEW Revolution in March 2024.

Allin had been expected to be away from the ring for the foreseeable future after revealing plans to ascend Mount Everest, however a foot injury and an unfortunate coming together with a bus in New York City put paid to those dreams for now.

The 2023 Royal Rampage winner has no plans to test his talents away from AEW, however. Speaking during a recent interview with Fightful, Allin reaffirmed his long-term loyalty to Tony Khan’s organisation:

“I’m here long-term. It’s not like I have this crazy eight-year contract or anything, but I’m here long-term. I’m having the time of my life.

Everything I get to do outside of the ring and everything I get to do with my family and all these other projects. This fall, I’m directing my first full-length film. I wanted to be the poster child to any wrestler that have so much interests and hobbies outside of just wrestling where you can work on things. I feel like AEW gives me that platform.

If you think about it, ain’t no place that is going to let me skate with Tony Hawk or climb Mount Everest or go to Nitro Circus and backflip a tricycle. My life doesn’t begin and end with wrestling. I feel there is so much I need to do outside to be fulfilled. AEW gives me everything. I have zero complaints.”

AEW Star Darby Allin Makes Shock Return

With Everest ambitions currently on hold, Allin made a shock return to AEW during the 15th May edition of AEW Dynamite.

Allin has been named as Eddie Kingston’s replacement in Team AEW, joining forces with FTR and Bryan Danielson to battle The Elite in Anarchy In The Arena at Double Or Nothing 2024.
