Tony Khan Experimenting With Free Tickets For Shows
AEW boss Tony Khan is giving away free tickets for an upcoming show as part of a wider experiment.
Tony Khan founded AEW in 2019 and has built that company into a global player in the wrestling world, attracting many of the top talent to be found across the globe.
In addition to that, in March 2022, Khan announced that he had also purchased Ring of Honor, as the ailing company seemed to be limping towards extinction. Since then, many ROH tapings have taken place in conjunction with AEW shows, making for some very long shows for talent and for fans.
But now a change might be coming, and it could mean freebies for fans.
Tony Khan Giving Away Free ROH Tickets
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that an upcoming standalone ROH taping taking place on the 1st of March in Jacksonville, Florida, is part of a wider experiment that could be the future of Tony Khan’s second brand:
It’s a very small building, and tickets are free. So this is an experiment. The idea is that if it goes well, this will be where all the ROH tapings will be done. At the studio, which is right by the [Jacksonville] Jaguars office, which is where Tony Khan works from. It’s basically a TV studio in downtown Jacksonville. The idea is to no longer tape the ROH shows on Wednesday or Saturday.
It’s easier because there are a lot of tapings coming up that are double tapings. Not all of them but a lot of tapings coming up. They’re gonna tape the Wednesday and Saturday [AEW] shows on Wednesday night. That doesn’t leave anytime for Ring of Honor tapings, it’s already a four-hour show. That’s the idea, I don’t know how many hours, I presume three to four hours of taping, do it once every three weeks or once every month.
The taping has already reached capacity from fans signing up for tickets. A waitlist is now in operation for fans to register their interest.
