Tony Khan Might Have Been Behind Chris Jericho Missing WWE Royal Rumble
On more than one occasion during the last several months, Tony Khan has spoken about his fondness for Chris Jericho.
For quite some time, Y2J has been rumored to return to WWE, but till now, that’s all they have been—rumors.
Jericho has yet to show up not only in World Wrestling Entertainment but also on AEW TV. His last appearance was on the Dynamite episode after Dynasty in April.
His segment showed him being livid at losing the Ring of Honor World Championship, subsequently lashing out at his ‘The Learning Tree’ stablemates, Big Bill and Bryan Keith.
He also said that he was ‘leaving’ and would not return until he felt that things were in order.
Chris Jericho was first rumored to make an appearance on Raw’s 1st Netflix Anniversary on January 5; then, it was the Royal Rumble, but he never showed up on any of those shows.
On a recent episode of The Coach & Bro podcast, Vince Russo was asked by Jonathan Coachman about the possible reason behind Jericho’s absence. Russo claimed that it might have to do with the AEW boss.
I think what it might come down to is just Tony Khan giving him an offer he can’t refuse. [1:15:39 onwards]
Tony Khan Clarifies Britt Baker’s AEW Status
Britt Baker, too, has not returned to AEW, although her last appearance was in November 2023. Like Chris Jericho, she, too, has been rumored for a jump to WWE.
Reports have also claimed that the promotion’s creative team had no storylines for her, thus keeping her on the sidelines.
While appearing on The Battleground Podcast recently, Tony Khan updated listeners about Baker’s status. This time around, he teased that she would eventually be back, but did not reveal any specific date.
I really like Britt a lot. There’s so many exciting things happening in the women’s division… and Britt’s somebody I really like and respect a lot.
Britt’s still somebody very highly regarded and respected here in AEW. So I would expect to see Britt back in AEW. I just don’t want to say when. [H/T: Ringside News]
