Surprising Match Reportedly Set For WWE WrestleMania 42
WWE has plans for a surprising match to make the card of WrestleMania 42.
The road to WrestleMania began at the Royal Rumble with Roman Reigns picking up a huge win in the men’s Rumble match and Liv Morgan winning the women’s Rumble for the very first time.
While Morgan is still leaving fans and the champions guessing as to who she’ll pick for her WrestleMania match, Roman Reigns did not hang around. Reigns picked World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk for his WrestleMania 42 bout, telling Punk that he hated him.
That is the only confirmed match for the show in Las Vegas, which reportedly needs all the help it can get, but it seems another big match could be in the works.
El Grande Americanos Heading To WWE WrestleMania?
The Royal Rumble also saw a bizarre showdown as the Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) returned to action and came face-to-face with the newer El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser). The hostilities between the masked stars have continued since, and it looks like the feud could make it all the way to WrestleMania.
According to WrestleVotes, during a Q&A, WWE is planning on an El Grande Americano vs. El Grande Americano bout on the grandest stage of them all:
WWE sees the money here; this is making the Mania card. It’s a surefire WrestleMania match. It makes the WrestleMania card either way.
This won’t be the first time WWE has forced stars to go up against versions of themselves. In 1994, The Undertaker took on The Undertaker in one of the worst SummerSlam main events of all time. In 2006, Kane found himself going up against an impostor at Vengeance 2006.
