Roman Reigns won the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble and chose CM Punk as his WrestleMania opponent for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Ahead of their clash on the Grandest Stage of Them All, Punk appeared on the February 4, 2025, episode of Up & Adams with Kay Adams, where he discussed his upcoming WrestleMania match with Reigns.

CM Punk stated that he and Roman Reigns are the top two stars in the wrestling industry, calling their matchup a “d***-measuring contest,” meaning that it will be a collision of egos to determine who is truly superior:

The lore is we’re two top guys in the industry. So it’s going to be, you know, it’s going to be a d*ck measuring contest. (From 5:21)

Roman Reigns Hates CM Punk, But Punk Doesn’t Hate Reigns

When asked whether he hates Roman Reigns, Punk said he does not hate Reigns at all. Instead, he said he enjoys getting under people’s skin, bringing out their emotions, and pushing them to be the best version of themselves:

I don’t hate him at all. I’m the guy who gets under people’s skin. I can draw that out of him. I really make people step up and become the best version of themselves because they want to shut me up. I love that. If I can get him emotional, if you know you’re in their head, you can beat them.”

During his promo on the February 2 episode of Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns said that he chose CM Punk as his WrestleMania opponent this year because he hates him.
