Two of the greatest talkers on television have exchanged an interesting war of words over social media of late as Stephen A. Smith told Paul Heyman that he’s “coming” to WWE some day.

Whether he’s on his very successful ESPN First Take sports debate show, ESPN’s NBA broadcasts or on the radio, popular sportscaster Stephen A. Smith is known for being loud and very honest whenever he speaks.

In the world of professional wrestling, WWE’s The Bloodline group has the Special Counsel (aka the “Wise Man”) Paul Heyman to make brilliant points whenever the “Tribal Chief” Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns wants him to talk.

Recently, Ric Flair was on ESPN’s First Take talking about his Peacock documentary that Stephen A. Smith was a part of because Smith is a big fan of Flair and pro wrestling. Flair said this to Smith about a possible WrestleMania 39 appearance:

“Stephen A., I just got the word passed along. Because WrestleMania’s in California, they know you love California, I think they’re entertaining the idea of having you manage one of these guys that can’t talk too well (laughs).”

When told about WWE wanting him to appear at WrestleMania, Smith seemed interested in the idea although he had a bit of a stipulation.

“Listen man, Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan, Paul Heyman and these guys, I would love to be one of these bad guy managers. I want to be the bad guy. I don’t want to be one of the goodie two-shoes guys. I think I could pull it off.”

“If they want me to be a bad guy manager, here’s the problem: nobody can touch me. I’m going to have that as part of my contract. I’m too fragile.”

After a fan tweeted Paul Heyman about it, the Special Counsel tweeted this in reply:

“1 – I’m not a manager. I’m #SpecialCounsel to the #TribalChief @WWERomanReigns

2 -@stephenasmithis not in my league. He’s a screaming voice crying out for attention from the Ocean of Obscurity. I, on the other hand, reside on the Island of Relevancy!”

Stephen A. Smith, who works all the time, even on Christmas Day on ESPN’s NBA broadcasts, responded to Heyman with a bit of a warning saying that he would be coming to WWE some day.

“What? What did you say @HeymanHustle. Land of obscurity! You’re very lucky I’m busy otherwise I’d have to come take your job, and show the fellas what REAL representation should look like in the @WWE. Haa!!!. Only kidding buddy. Love your work. But I AM coming one of these days”

As for Heyman, the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns has a big match this Friday on WWE Smackdown when he teams up with Sami Zayn to face Kevin Owens & John Cena, who steps back in the ring for his first match of 2022 on the second last day of the year.
