Shotzi Injury Angle Set Up To Cover Legitimate Injury

Shotzi suffered a legitimate injury to her hand, so WWE did an angle on Smackdown to cover it.

At Survivor Series, Shotzi challenged Ronda Rousey for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. While Rousey won the match easily, it was criticized by many people and Rousey would even talk about the botched DDT spot in the match.

On the December 9th edition of Smackdown, they filmed a parking lot incident while Legado del Fantasma was being interviewed. Shotzi was heard screaming in the background. The story goes that Rousey and her best friend Shayna Baszler attacked Shotzi, who was down selling a right hand injury.

As for Rousey’s next Smackdown Women’s Title challenger, it will likely be Raquel Rodriguez, who is currently selling a worked arm injury. It is just part of the storyline to put over Rousey and Baszler as a dangerous duo that did a cheap attack on Raquel in the past, as well as Shotzi. Raquel and Shotzi are babyface allies on Smackdown. That Rousey match with Rodriguez is likely going to happen at the Royal Rumble.

It was reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the angle was done to cover for the legit broken right hand that Shotzi is dealing with. Shotzi is expected to be out of action for about six months, so she should be ready to go by the Royal Rumble on January 28th.
